The Wirtgen W 100 F -- new in spring 2007 -- provides new power, control and ergonomic technologies to the 1 meter (39.3 inch) class of cold milling machines, with a front loading system and choice of standard four-track drive or optional four-wheel drive.

The new W 100 F -- successor to the W 1000 F is part of the new "comprising a total of 15 models" in Wirtgen's cold milling machine sector. The new generation of 1 m class includes the W 100, W 100 F and W 120 F.

The engine of the W 100 F offers a more efficient transmission of power yet it is also more economical with fuel. Its elastic-sprung mounting means this 6-cylinder turbo diesel engine runs much quieter than might be expected, with minimal operator vibration.

The man/machine interfaces have been redesigned and arranged in line with the latest findings in the field of workplace ergonomics. The functional design focuses on the driver and makes operation of the milling machine faster and simpler. Controls have been optimized so that the number of switches has been reduced by 20 percent. The operator's platform is positioned across the entire width of the machine, providing the operator with a full view of the right-hand side of the machine from a seated or standing position. And for an even better view, the operator can swing his seat over the side of the machine.

A range of automatic functions are pre-set but can also be de-selected by the operator. Fully automated control functions are provided for core tasks like water management, which selects water only when actual milling work is taking place, reducing water consumption. The selection of the milling drum is also controlled automatically.

The operation of the scraper and the gradation control beam have now been combined at the milling drum. Both components can either be fixed or set to a floating position at the push of a button. Additionally, the conveyor speed is also controlled automatically for the loading belts of the W 100 F: even when the engine speed is reduced, it is ensured that the speed at which the milled material is loaded is constant and high.

The Wirtgen Flexible Cutter System (FCS) is available for the W 100 F, which permits a swift change of milling drums so that a single machine can perform a range of different applications. Using FCS drums, customers have working widths ranging from 30 cm to 1 m at their disposal with the W 100 F. It also can be equiped with fine textured drums. The W 100 F can be fitted with Wirtgen's exciting new Level Pro System.
