Hydraulics & Grade Control Service School - All Milling Machines & Recyclers

Who should attend:
The Hydraulics Service School is intended for persons dealing with in-depth technical aspects of the maintenance and repair of milling machines and recyclers. Those who attend this school should have prior experience in performing general mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repairs. Although it is not required, it is helpful for the student to have previously completed the Wirtgen Electrical School.

Overview:
Emphasis will be placed on reading hydraulic schematics and understanding and troubleshooting Wirtgen hydraulic systems. The class will be a combination of lecture and hands-on shop and lab exercises.

A discussion of Wirtgen’s grade control systems (both Moba and Level Pro) will be given to enable students to maximize the use of those systems and to resolve issues that may arise during operation.

The techniques for the operation of milling machines will not be covered in this class.

Objectives: 3-day course

• Provide students with a basic understanding of reading, tracing, and utilizing Wirtgen schematics for more effective troubleshooting of hydraulic problems
• Provide students with an understanding of hydraulic principles, hydraulic terminology common troubleshooting techniques, and the proper use of hydraulic test equipment
• Provide students an understanding of proportional control systems
• Provide students with the skills necessary to effectively diagnose hydraulic problems and identify components that may be in need of replacement

• Hydraulic terminology
• Hydraulic principles
• Hydraulic symbols
• Reading hydraulic schematics

Day 2
• Practical exercises in hydraulic troubleshooting

Day 3
• Testing hydraulic components used on Wirtgen machines
• Utilizing hydraulic schematics as an aid to troubleshooting

Day 4
• Introduction to Wirtgen grade controls
