Foamed Asphalt Technology For Contractors, Government Agencies Featured at Wirtgen Service School

Oct 7, 2005 – A class in foamed asphalt technology intended for both contractors and government road specifying agencies is among the offerings at Wirtgen America Inc.’s Service Training Schools this winter.

Foamed asphalt is created by carefully injecting a predetermined amount of cold water into hot penetration-grade asphalt in the mixing chamber of a pavement recycling unit, and offers a cost-effective alternate for road base stabilization. Wirtgen has been a major player in development of foamed asphalt technology, in which foamed asphalt is used to stabilize and improve existing road materials, producing highest quality base courses and cold mixes at lowest cost.

In addition to foamed asphalt technology, Wirtgen will offer classes in servicing the new WR 2000 recycler, the big WR 2500 S recycler, and all models of its cold milling machines. Classes will cover electrical systems, hydraulic systems, drum maintenance, general preventive maintenance (PM) and grade control.

The innovative training program is offered at no charge for qualified attendees.

Wirtgen Service Schools are designed to enhance a technician's understanding of the technical service aspects of milling and recycling equipment. They are not intended to teach the techniques of operation nor of asphalt milling, but focus on troubleshooting and analysis related to equipment maintenance and repair as may be required in day-to-day operations.

"Fully trained service technicians can optimize machine uptime and availability, better please your customers, and enhance your bottom line," said Stu Murray, Wirtgen America president. "That's why we invite equipment owners to send qualified service technicians to our annual training classes for Wirtgen America milling and recycling equipment."

Classes will be held at Wirtgen America's ultramodern multimedia training facility in Nashville, at its North American headquarters opened in 2001.

In addition to no registration fee for qualified individuals, the firm arranges highly favorable lodging rates for attendees at a nearby hotel. On class days free transportation is provided to and from the hotel, and lunch. Registrants are responsible for transportation to and from Nashville, lodging and other meals.
